Newly elected Hurley clerk resigns - by Daily Freeman

The Town Board ended the year in a meeting that included the resignation of the newly elected clerk, who still could be sworn into a full term on Jan. 1, and the appointment of a councilwoman after an executive session at odds with the state Open Meetings Law.

Both incidents occurred Wednesday during a session that attracted about 50 people, who often baited board members into short verbal exchanges that occurred in the absence of a public comment period.
