Onteora School District budget for 2023-24 drafted at $61.21 million - 2.16% increase
BOICEVILLE, N.Y. — Onteora school officials are starting 2023-24 budget deliberations with a $61.21 million budget draft representing a 2.16% increase of $1.3 million.
The district is seeking to keep the property tax levy at $47.02 million, a 2% increase of $922,028, Assistant Superintendent Monica LaClair said during a Board of Education meeting Tuesday.
Under tax levy limits, the district would be allowed up to a 3.88% increase of $1,790,750 with only a simple majority approval from voters. A larger amount would require 60% approval from residents.
Officials expect the figures the change as aid figures are adjusted by state lawmakers, who are starting their talks with Onteora over a plan to receive $10.3 million, a 1.83% decrease of $192,584.
