Hurley Board Proposes Building Application Moritorium

The moratorium would also prohibit “any construction activity including clearing, grading, excavating, soil disturbance or placement of fill that results in land disturbance” which would be 0.5 acres or more in the the combined areas in the A-4 and A-2.5 zoning districts (see Map).

Clearing and construction would also be prohibited on less than 0.5 acres if it is part of a “larger common plan of development or sale, even though multiple separate and distinct land development activities may take place at different times on different schedules, on land within or partially within the…zoning districts.”

Town Board members have set an April 18 Public Hearing on a proposed nine-month moratorium that would prevent site plans, special use permit applications and subdivision reviews for projects involving more than five acres in two zoning districts.

The session is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. in Town Hall at 10 Wamsley Place.

Supervisor Melinda McKnight said the pause on new projects would allow Town Board members to review revisions that are expected to be received from the planning consultant before the next meeting.
