Hurley gets threats of lawsuits over handling of Twin Lakes
“Arizona Investissements challenge of a code enforcement ruling that the Twin Lake redevelopment into a glamping complex will be on the town Zoning Board of Appeals agenda Thursday with a backdrop of threats that court action is planned…”
Arizona Investissements contends that the Feb. 8, 2021 approval of a one-year special use permit should be allowed to continue because work could not move forward during a pandemic-slowed state authorization process….
…developer Umar Sheikh during a public hearing in September said the decision to not renew the permit is contrary to the spirit if not the language of the town. He noted that conditions set by the town Planning Board as well as lawsuits filed by neighbors created unfair setbacks that did not allow progress to be made.
“Some of these conditions that were imposed in the special use permit were not within our control,” he said.
The tone of those concerns increased earlier this week in a press release from Arizona Invetissements, which contends that recent public statements by town Supervisor Melinda McKnight are being interpreted as an effort to “disregard prior approvals regardless of the legality of doing so in favor of making (developers) start over, all at great cost, prejudice and delay to the developer.”
