Taking Water for the City: Historical Archaeology of the Towns of Hurley, Kent, and Olive”

Since 2012, archaeologist April M. Beisaw has been studying the impacts of the New York City reservoir system on watershed towns. In this talk, she will provide a summary of her recently published book, which focused on the towns of Olive and Kent. April will also share more recent work on the impacts to Hurley, including the creation of an interactive map of land parcels taken which can be correlated to archival photos of demolished buildings.
